New details have emerged regarding the fatal shooting at a Dallas Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) field office on Wednesday, where a sniper killed one detainee and injured two others. The suspect, identified as Joshua Jahn, left behind a note expressing intent to instill fear among ICE agents.
FBI Director Kash Patel disclosed that the handwritten note stated, “Hopefully this will give ICE agents real terror, to think, ‘is there a sniper with AP rounds on that roof?’” The reference to armor-piercing bullets underscores the severity of the threat.
Patel revealed Jahn conducted extensive research prior to the attack, including searches for apps tracking ICE agents and downloading a document titled “Dallas County Office of Homeland Security & Emergency Management,” which lists Department of Homeland Security (DHS) facilities. He also researched ballistics information and viewed a video titled “Charlie Kirk Shot Video” in the days leading up to the incident.
Jahn, 29, died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound after the attack. FBI investigators in Dallas and Washington, D.C., are analyzing evidence, including devices and writings recovered from his residence. Patel emphasized that the findings indicate “a high degree of pre-attack planning.”
The FBI has pledged to provide further updates as information becomes available.
