Vice President J.D. Vance Condemns Left-Wing Rhetoric Following ICE Attack

During a speech in Concord, North Carolina, Vice President J.D. Vance criticized Democrats for what he called their escalating rhetoric encouraging political violence against law enforcement, declaring they “can go straight to Hell” if they foster such extremism. The remarks came as Vance addressed public safety and support for law enforcement during a visit to the Charlotte area, coinciding with legislative efforts in North Carolina to strengthen criminal laws.

A left-wing gunman attacked an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facility in Dallas, Texas, on Wednesday, opening fire on an unmarked ICE van transporting detainees. The incident resulted in one confirmed death and two injured individuals. The suspect, identified as Joshua Jahn, 29, was found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound at the scene. Authorities discovered a stripper clip with the message “anti-ICE” scrawled on it near his body.

Jahn’s social media profile, now deleted, featured an image of an armed communist with a hammer and sickle, accompanied by the text “GLORIOUS EXPOSITION, COMRADE.” A registered Democrat, Jahn had a prior 2015 conviction for selling marijuana. His sister has faced multiple arrests, while his mother, a left-wing activist, posted anti-gun messages targeting Republican officials in Texas. Vance stated there is unreported evidence suggesting Jahn was a “violent left-wing extremist” driven by political motives to target law enforcement and border authorities.

Vance directly criticized California Governor Gavin Newsom, accusing him of inciting violence through rhetoric that labeled law enforcement as “authoritarian.” He cited Newsom’s recent legislation banning face coverings for ICE agents, which the Trump administration rejected as unconstitutional. Vance argued that Democratic leaders must renounce political violence and condemn extremist actions rather than focusing on disagreements over policies.

The vice president highlighted a surge in political violence attributed to left-wing groups, asserting it is not a “both sides problem” but primarily linked to one political faction. He called for accountability from Democratic leadership, urging them to address the promotion of violence by leftist organizations. Vance also referenced the recent assassination of TPUSA founder Charlie Kirk, criticizing Democrats for prioritizing condemnation of speech over addressing violent acts.

Vance emphasized that the Trump administration is actively dismantling domestic terror networks promoting political violence, framing the issue as a critical threat to national security.
