The Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem responded to the post, calling the song “disrespectful” to law enforcement and the nation.
Noem criticized Bryan’s remarks during a conversation with conservative commentator Benny Johnson, stating, “I hope he understands how completely disrespectful that song is, not just to law enforcement but to this country, to every single individual that has ever stood up and fought for our freedoms.” She added that she is “very happy” she does not listen to Bryan’s music.
The lyrics from the song depict a scenario where ICE agents conduct raids, with Bryan singing, “And ICE is gonna come bust down your house, try to build a house no one builds no more, but I got a telephone, kids are all scared and all alone.” The track has sparked debate amid heightened immigration enforcement under former President Donald Trump’s policies.
Bryan, known for his Americana-inspired music, has previously avoided political themes but recently addressed concerns about the “fading American dream” in his work. His latest release has drawn attention to the impact of immigration raids, including a recent operation in Chicago where children were reportedly removed from their homes during a military-style sweep.
