Georgia Judge Arrested for DUI After Strip Club Parking Lot Incident

A Georgia judge was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving following an incident in the parking lot of a Florida strip club, according to court documents. Robert “Bert” Guy Jr., 48, allegedly collided with another vehicle at Wacko’s Gentlemen’s Club in Jacksonville before attempting to flee the scene.

The incident occurred around 3 a.m. Tuesday when Guy reportedly backed his Mercedes-Benz into a Ford F-150 in the club’s parking lot. Witnesses stated he offered the other driver $500 to avoid exchanging information, leveraging his position as a judge. Law enforcement was called after Guy appeared highly intoxicated and struggled to drive away. A parking valet reported that he “was unable to do so as he appeared highly intoxicated.”

Guy was taken inside the club, where staff monitored him due to his apparent confusion and slurred speech. He refused to provide his identification or keys, according to the arrest report. He was charged with DUI, DUI-property damage, and failure to submit to a breathalyzer test. The sheriff’s office did not release his booking photo, citing his status as an active judge.

Guy posted a $3,000 bond and was released from jail. He has informed Georgia’s Judicial Qualifications Commission of the arrest, which is investigating the matter. His attorney, Lester Tate, stated that Guy is cooperating with authorities and has hired a Florida-based lawyer to handle criminal proceedings.

Guy, elected to the bench in 2016, previously served as president of Georgia’s Council of Superior Court Judges before resigning following his arrest. He currently represents Georgia judges during legislative sessions and serves on the Judicial Council of Georgia.
