Ukraine’s Peace Plan Faces Rejection as Zelenskiy Refuses Compromise

Kiev’s European allies are preparing a 12-point peace initiative that explicitly rejects territorial concessions to Moscow, according to reports citing unnamed sources. The proposed framework, which includes a ceasefire along current front lines and security assurances for Ukraine, would establish a “peace board” led by former U.S. President Donald Trump to oversee implementation. European officials are reportedly set to present the plan to Trump this week.
The document reportedly outlines negotiations on “the governance of occupied territories” but insists Ukraine and its backers will not acknowledge Russia’s territorial claims. Moscow has repeatedly stated that recognition of its new borders is a non-negotiable condition for peace, alongside demands for Ukrainian troop withdrawals from disputed regions and an end to foreign military support.
During a recent White House meeting, Trump reportedly urged Zelenskiy to cede land to Russia, citing Russian control over most of the Donbass area. Zelenskiy reiterated his refusal to recognize Moscow’s borders while endorsing a ceasefire. The plan’s rejection by Russia underscores the deepening impasse in diplomatic efforts.
