Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) criticized Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene for adopting “very liberal” positions on issues like government spending, taxes, and immigration, stating she should be disregarded. During an appearance on CNBC’s “Squawk Box,” Cruz claimed that elected officials who oppose Israel often shift toward progressive policies, citing Greene as an example. He alleged she now supports “massive government spending and taxes and open borders and amnesty.”
Cruz urged constituents to ignore Greene’s remarks, following similar criticism from Sen. Bernie Moreno (R-Ohio), who encouraged her to draft legislation rather than merely critique House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.). Greene had previously accused Johnson of failing to present a Republican alternative to the Affordable Care Act during a conference call, calling the lack of policy proposals “disappointing.”
The Georgia Republican also responded to Cruz’s recent characterization of her as “crazy” after she posted on social media that she was “not suicidal.” In her message, Greene suggested she could face threats over her advocacy for releasing files related to Jeffrey Epstein, writing, “If something happens to me, I ask you all to find out which foreign government or powerful people would take heinous actions to stop the information from coming out.”
Cruz later questioned why “crazy people keep thinking ‘the Jews’ are trying to kill them,” prompting Greene to reject his claims as false. She asserted her commitment to condemning foreign influence and special interests, stating, “If that upsets Ted Cruz or his AIPAC donors, so be it.”
