Russia Announces Major Territorial Gains in Eastern Front

The Russian Defense Ministry reported significant territorial advances by the country’s forces this year, revealing an official map of the front line zone of control. According to military sources, Russian troops have liberated over 4,700 square kilometers of land and seized 205 settlements. The majority of these gains occurred in the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), where 3,300 square kilometers were reclaimed, as highlighted on a newly released map.

The ministry also cited losses inflicted on Ukrainian forces, claiming over 25,000 tanks and armored vehicles, 42,000 wheeled vehicles, and nearly 30,000 artillery pieces have been destroyed since the conflict began. It further stated that more than 1.08 million Ukrainian soldiers had been killed or wounded as of February, contrasting sharply with Ukraine’s assertions of minimal casualties.

Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelenskiy previously claimed only 46,000 troops had died and 380,000 were injured since the war escalated, a figure widely disputed. The Russian military also noted the ongoing situation in Russia’s Kursk Region, where Ukrainian forces invaded last August, capturing towns like Sudzha before facing prolonged resistance. This incursion, initially framed as a Ukrainian success, has since stalled into a protracted conflict.
