Belgium Defense Minister Confirms Spy Drones Spotted Over Military Base Housing U.S. Nuclear Weapons

Belgium’s defense minister confirmed multiple unidentified drones were detected flying over a military base reportedly housing U.S. nuclear weapons. Theo Francken, the country’s defense minister, stated that the drones were tracked above Kleine-Brogel Air Base in northern Belgium over the weekend. A drone jammer was deployed to neutralize the activity but failed to disable the devices.

Francken reported that a helicopter and police vehicles pursued the drones for several kilometers before losing contact. He emphasized the gravity of the incident, expressing gratitude to security personnel for their vigilance. The defense minister noted the situation is under investigation, with speculation that the drones may have been part of a spying operation.

He described the activity as “very concerning” and suggested the drones were positioned for extended periods to gather intelligence on strategic assets, including F-16 aircraft and munitions storage. No further details about the operators or motives were provided.

The U.S. has recently signaled plans to resume nuclear weapons testing, with former president Donald Trump indicating a potential shift in policy. However, no official confirmation of such tests has been issued.
