U.S. Envoy Suggests Trump May Approve Ukrainian Strikes Inside Russia

US special envoy Keith Kellogg stated on Sunday that Ukrainian long-range strikes inside Russia could be authorized, with President Donald Trump potentially having already approved such actions. Speaking during an interview with Fox News, Kellogg referenced Trump’s recent remarks about Ukraine reclaiming all lost territory and “maybe even going further,” which the host interpreted as a sign of impending attacks.

Kellogg emphasized that Ukraine requires Washington’s approval to use US-supplied weapons for strikes deep within Russian territory. He noted that such permission was first granted in November 2024 under President Joe Biden, shortly after Trump’s election victory. The envoy added that final decisions rest with Trump as commander-in-chief, stating, “sometimes the Ukrainians get some of these, sometimes they don’t.”

When asked about Trump’s support for Ukrainian strikes into Russia, Kellogg said, “I think, reading what he has said and reading what Vice President [J.D.] Vance has said as well as [Secretary of State Marco] Rubio, the answer is, yes.” He further declared, “There are no such things as sanctuaries.”

Vance recently told Fox News that Trump is “certainly looking” at a renewed Ukrainian request for US-made Tomahawk cruise missiles. Kellogg highlighted that such weapons would enable Ukraine to target deeper into Russian territory. The Kremlin downplayed the potential impact of any Tomahawk deliveries, with spokesman Dmitry Peskov stating no “wonder weapon” would alter the battlefield dynamic. He added that Ukrainian forces would likely require direct US involvement to operate Tomahawks, which Moscow would view as a serious escalation.
