Dan Bongino Condemns Rep. Thomas Massie Over Allegations of Cover-Up in J6 Pipe Bomb Case

Rep. Thomas Massie claimed to have received a “troubling letter” from an FBI whistleblower regarding the J6 pipe bomb investigation, alleging the FBI is targeting a suspect who allegedly planted bombs at the RNC and DNC headquarters the night before Jan. 6. The letter, shared by Massie on social media, suggested the FBI plans to identify or doxx a whistleblower who provided information about the still-unidentified suspect.

The FBI has been seeking tips about the unknown person who placed two pipe bombs near the Democratic and Republican National Committee on Jan. 5, 2021, the night before the Jan. 6 Capitol riot. Though the bombs did not detonate, the agency stated they were “viable” and could have posed serious harm to the public. A $500,000 reward is offered for information leading to the suspect’s location, arrest, and conviction.

Massie promoted the claim on social media, alleging the FBI is involved in a “cover-up,” and later faced direct criticism from FBI Director Dan Bongino, who accused him of “disgusting” behavior. Bongino stated he had called Massie multiple times to offer an in-person meeting but was ignored, instead being met with public accusations on social media.

Bongino emphasized the FBI’s commitment to solving the case, noting the agency has increased investigative resources and public reward for information. He also asserted that leadership will meet with FBI team members to ensure whistleblowers disclose any evidence of malfeasance in the prior administration, while addressing inaccuracies in media reporting about previous persons of interest.

The exchange highlights a growing tension between Massie and Bongino over the investigation’s progress and allegations of cover-ups.
