Minneapolis Catholic School Shooter Identified as Robin Westman, Alleged Transgender Male in His Early 20s

The suspect responsible for the fatal shooting at Annunciation Catholic School in Minneapolis has been identified as Robin Westman. The attack resulted in the deaths of two children and injuries to at least 17 others, including 14 children, with two remaining in critical condition.

Westman, described as a mentally ill transgender male in his early 20s, was previously known as Robert Westman. Court records indicate he began identifying as transgender during his adolescence and legally changed his name to Robin in 2020. Social media posts and videos uploaded hours before the attack reportedly contained violent rhetoric, including phrases such as “Kill Donald Trump” and “For the Children.”

Law enforcement confirmed that Westman was a lone shooter who died of a self-inflicted gunshot in the school’s parking lot. Authorities are investigating an alleged manifesto linked to the suspect, which includes writings referencing suicide, violent thoughts, and a hand-drawn blueprint of a church. Some content reportedly appeared in Russian, with the suspect heard whispering in the language.

The shooter’s YouTube videos, including one featuring a red notebook filled with handwritten notes and schematic diagrams, have been shared widely. A trans flag sticker with a gun was also referenced in the material. Police are examining the validity of these posts as part of their ongoing investigation.

The attack occurred during a back-to-school Mass at Annunciation Catholic Church, where the suspect opened fire through stained glass windows around 8:30 a.m. Two children, aged 8 and 10, were killed. Family members and community members have called for prayers for the victims and their loved ones.
