Graphic new footage has emerged from the District of Columbia, capturing the assault on two U.S. National Guardsmen by an individual believed to be affiliated with Afghanistan shortly after the Taliban takeover.
The video shows a man identified as “Rahmanullah Lakanwal” carrying out the ambush around a corner, holding a revolver against the backdrop of significant change in Afghan leadership and security oversight since August 2021. Following the attack, U.S. National Guard members immediately returned fire, confronting the active threat.
In a swift response, Guardsmen provided immediate aid to two personnel who were wounded during this violent incident near Washington D.C.’s iconic landmarks.
