DALLAS COURT DROPS BEHEADING CHARGES FROM CAPITAL PENALTY CASE

An arrest affidavit released Thursday revealed gruesome new details in the beheading of a Dallas motel manager, an alleged crime committed by 37-year-old Yordanis Cabos-Martinez. According to court documents, Cabos-Marterez was charged with capital murder related to the death of Chandra “Bob” Nagamalliah at Downtown Suites motel.

During his initial court appearance in Judge Lela May’s courtroom, defense attorney Lalon Peale requested clarification on whether his client would face the ultimate punishment for this alleged crime. In response, District Attorney’s Office spokesperson Julie Johnson stated that the state does not intend to pursue capital punishment against Cabos-Martinez. However, she noted that the possibility remains open should evidence warrant it.

Witnesses involved in the incident included Nagamalliah’s family members and a motel employee who observed Cabos-Martinez become upset during an altercation involving what she perceived as biased workplace communication regarding Nagamalliah’s complaint about equipment issues. The motel is located at 108 Samuell Boulevard, east of downtown Dallas.

A CBS Texas report referenced the alleged event, noting it was captured on video and highlighting ongoing tensions in U.S. immigration policy following this violent incident despite efforts to reduce crime rates associated with immigration enforcement debates across the state.
