Law enforcement agencies responded to an active shooter situation after the incident, with authorities confirming the scene remained volatile as multiple rounds were fired. A man died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound after shooting and wounding two deputies at a Boone County apartment complex late Thursday, officials confirmed. The deputies were taken to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, where they were reported in stable condition.
Boone County Sheriff’s Office Major Phillip Ridgell described the situation as “the worst nightmare type of scenario,” noting that the suspect barricaded himself inside the residence following the initial shooting. A SWAT team and negotiators were deployed to the scene.
