Chelsea Clinton Denies Congressional Run Rumors as Speculation Rises Over Nadler’s Successor

As Rep. Jerry Nadler (D-NY) announced his retirement, rumors swirled about potential candidates for his open seat, including Chelsea Clinton. The daughter of former President Bill Clinton and former First Lady Hillary Clinton has denied reports she is considering a bid for New York’s 10th Congressional District. A spokesperson for Clinton confirmed to the Washington Examiner that “there is no truth to this” when asked about speculation surrounding her potential candidacy. “She is not considering a run,” the spokesperson added.

The news follows weeks of anticipation over who will fill Nadler’s seat, which he vacated after three decades in Congress. The 78-year-old lawmaker cited calls for generational change within the Democratic Party as a reason for his decision. Nadler noted that younger leaders could “do better” and “help us more,” signaling a shift in the party’s direction.

This is not the first time Clinton has been linked to a congressional race. In 2019, speculation emerged about her potentially running for the seat of retiring Rep. Nita Lowey, though she later downplayed the possibility. Meanwhile, Jack Schlossberg, grandson of former President John F. Kennedy, has also been mentioned as a potential contender for Nadler’s position. The 32-year-old social media influencer told the New York Times it was “a possibility” he might run.

The race for Nadler’s seat remains uncertain, with multiple names circulating as the Democratic primary approaches.
