Minneapolis Creates ‘No-Ice Zone’ as Protesters Take Control After ICE Shooting

The scenes in Minneapolis are getting quite chaotic. A large group of anti-ICE protesters has taken over the street where a Border Patrol agent shot and killed a 37-year-old man after the man violently resisted arrest and was found to be with a firearm. The demonstrations followed reports that an ICE officer shot Renee Good after she hit him with her car.

The Minneapolis Police Department was absent from the block where Wednesday’s incident unfolded, allowing agitators to seize control of the street and erect makeshift barricades that kept others out of the area. According to government sources, the shooting occurred during an ICE enforcement operation in south Minneapolis on Wednesday when agents were attempting arrests. A man allegedly used his vehicle as a weapon, prompting a federal agent to fire shots in self-defense.

Following the incident, protesters constructed barriers from chairs, trash cans, wood shipping pallets, bicycles and more to secure the area. No police officers were observed nearby during the protests.
