Critical Time Passes as Search Continues for NBC News Star’s Missing Mother

More details have emerged regarding the disappearance of NBC News star Savannah Guthrie’s mother, Nancy Guthrie, 84. Authorities confirmed she went missing from her home in Arizona on Saturday night with no leads on her whereabouts.

During a press conference on Monday morning, Arizona officials reported a possible crime occurred at Nancy Guthrie’s residence during her disappearance. By Tuesday, it was further revealed that her implanted medical device stopped syncing with her Apple Watch around 2 a.m. Sunday—a day after she vanished. Law enforcement sources stated the devices remained inside her Tucson home when officers arrived hours later at noon.

Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos indicated that Nancy Guthrie’s son-in-law, Tommaso Cioni, was the last person to see her before her disappearance. Cioni dropped her off at her Arizona home Saturday evening after she had dinner with him and his wife, who is Savannah Guthrie’s sister. Authorities confirmed Nancy Guthrie vanished between 9:45 p.m. that night and Sunday morning, when friends at church became concerned about her absence.

Sheriff Nanos emphasized that air and ground searches are slowing as investigators shift focus to DNA evidence and video footage analysis. As of Wednesday, no suspects have been identified in connection with the case.
