Vice President JD Vance, accompanied by his wife and children, attended the Winter Olympics in Italy today.
During the opening ceremony, a camera panned to Vance and his family. Some audience members began booing, an incident cited as evidence of Vance’s unpopularity.
When questioned aboard Air Force One this evening about the boos, President Trump described the situation as “surprising,” noting that Vance is well-liked in the United States and does not typically receive such reactions abroad.
“He doesn’t get booed in this country!” Trump stated.
The president added: “Who cares what people in Italy think about our vice president? It only matters that Vance is doing a great job making America great again.”
