Actor Charlie Sheen revealed shocking details about his past during an interview with People magazine, disclosing he was blackmailed over sexual encounters from his drug addiction years. The 60-year-old star shared that during this period, he engaged in secret relationships with men and paid individuals to keep the information hidden.
In his upcoming memoir, The Book of Sheen, and Netflix documentary aka Charlie Sheen, Sheen described how his experiences with men began after he started using crack cocaine. “That’s what started it,” he told People. “That’s where it was born, or sparked.” He reflected on the decision to publicly address these encounters, calling it “liberating” and emphasizing that revealing the truth felt like a release from years of secrecy.
Sheen also spoke about the pressure he faced to stay silent, stating, “There was another element to it that it did come with a tremendous amount of extortion.” He admitted to paying people to avoid exposure, adding, “I was just like, ‘Alright, let’s just pay to keep it quiet.’” The actor described feeling “held hostage” by the situation but expressed a desire to break free from the burden of secrecy.
In an interview with Good Morning America, Sheen explained his long-standing fear of how the public would react if he disclosed his past. “I’ve written a story all these years about, ‘Oh jeez, if I ever reveal that, then this has to be how I’d be dealt with,’” he said. The actor emphasized that the experience left him feeling trapped but ultimately driven to confront the truth.
