Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs was arrested on Tuesday in Wisconsin and booked into Brown County Jail on multiple domestic violence charges, according to ESPN reports.
Jacobs, 28, faces allegations of battery (domestic abuse with criminal damage to property), domestic abuse, disorderly conduct (domestic abuse involving strangulation and suffocation), and intimidation of a victim. The Hobart-Lawrence Police Department responded to the alleged disturbance on Saturday following a complaint filed May 23.
Brown County jail records indicate the strangulation and suffocation charge is a felony, while the other four charges are misdemeanors. Jacobs was held without bond per the records.
In a statement, Jacobs’ attorneys denied the allegations: “Josh vehemently denies the allegations, and this matter is in the early stages of investigation with important evidence that has not yet been made public. We ask for fairness and restraint while the judicial process takes its course.” The attorneys are represented by David Chesnoff, Richard Schonfeld, and Clarence Duchac.
The Packers confirmed they are “aware of the matter involving Josh Jacobs” but stated they would withhold further comment as it remains an ongoing legal situation. The NFL noted it is “aware of the report and has been in contact with the club.”
Jacobs, entering his eighth NFL season after being drafted 24th overall by the Raiders in 2019, ran for 929 yards and scored 14 touchdowns across 15 games last season. He will be subject to the league’s personal conduct policy and could face discipline if found guilty.
