Las Vegas Metropolitan Police have arrested a teenage girl after she was accused of intentionally stabbing three horses during a barrel racing competition at South Point Casino in Nevada on Saturday, May 30.
Officers responded to the equestrian center located at the 9700 block of Las Vegas Boulevard South early Saturday morning just after 2 a.m. They discovered three horses with injuries caused by a sharp object, which police believe was a knife.
The investigation revealed that the suspect had access to the barn where the horses were kept. Police stated she may have used the knife to inflict multiple injuries on the animals.
One of the injured horses was Saaul Good, known as Sully. His owner, Hailey Krahenbuhl, reported that Sully had been stabbed several times and is currently in recovery with stitches.
The National Barrel Horse Association confirmed the incident occurred during their 2026 Official NBHA Las Vegas Super Show and described it as an “isolated incident involving the mistreatment of a limited number of equine competitors by an event competitor.” They added that the individual responsible has been removed from competition and placed under authorities’ care.
