Trump’s announcement follows significant artist withdrawals from the Great American State Fair, where multiple performers cited concerns about political ties. Country singer Martina McBride stated she was misled into believing the event was nonpartisan but discovered it had political affiliations. A spokesperson for the fair maintained that all events are “inherently nonpolitical.”
Earlier, Trump indicated he would replace the withdrawn musicians with a special rally, which he described as an “America Is Back” event focused on patriotic themes and national unity. He emphasized attendees should be “Happy People, Smart People, Successful People.”
The Freedom 250 initiative, established by the Trump administration for the nation’s 250th birthday celebrations, has faced controversy after artist withdrawals. The organization’s CEO, Keith Krach, has not been publicly active since the issue surfaced.
