Sweden’s newly appointed health minister, Elisabet Lann, collapsed during a government press conference on Tuesday, sparking concern among attendees. In a video that has circulated widely, Lann, representing the Christian Democrat party, fell to the ground while being introduced alongside Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson and other officials. She struck her head on the lectern before being assisted by party leader Ebba Busch and security personnel.
Lann briefly left the room but returned shortly afterward, attributing the incident to a “blood sugar drop.” A DN reporter described the moment as “really bad,” noting she fell directly in front of them. The press conference was canceled, though Lann did not appear injured.
The event occurred hours after her predecessor, Acko Ankarberg Johansson, resigned unexpectedly the day prior. Lann, a municipal councilor in Gothenburg, had been named to the role earlier that day. No immediate details were released about whether she required medical treatment.
