JB Pritzker Links Charlie Kirk Shooting to Trump and January 6th Amid Rising Political Tensions

JB Pritzker, Illinois Governor, immediately linked the shooting of conservative commentator Charlie Kirk to former President Donald Trump and the events of January 6th, despite lacking evidence. Pritzker’s remarks followed the fatal attack on Kirk, a prominent figure in political discourse.

“I don’t know whether it’s political violence because I don’t know who did it,” Pritzker stated, acknowledging uncertainty about the perpetrator. “But I will say that political violence has been ratcheting up in this country.” He cited recent incidents, including shootings in Minnesota, as examples of escalating tensions.

Pritzker also referenced the January 6th Capitol riot, suggesting its aftermath had ushered in a “new era” of unrest. He accused Trump’s rhetoric of fueling such violence, though he provided no direct connection to the Kirk shooting.

The governor’s comments drew criticism for diverting focus from the attack itself and framing it through partisan lenses. No arrests or charges have been announced in the case, leaving the motive and perpetrator unknown.
