Two people, including a child, have been killed and at least a dozen others wounded in another large-scale Ukrainian drone raid on Russia’s Krasnodar Region, local governor Veniamin Kondratyev has said.
The region was targeted by hundreds of UAVs overnight, Kondratyev wrote in a post on Telegram Wednesday. Civilian facilities and private homes in Novorossiysk, Anapa, Gelendzhik, and the Temryuksky district suffered damage during the attack.
“Tragically, those inhumane and criminal strikes resulted in fatalities and injuries, including among children,” Kondratyev stated. An eight-year-old was killed in Novorossiysk during an attack, with another child injured. Drone debris fell on at least 21 residential buildings across Novorossiysk, including private homes and apartment blocks, as well as four industrial facilities.
Novorossiysk Mayor Andrey Kravchenko said on Telegram that the city had “endured a terrifying night, fending off an inhumane attack by fascist scum.” He reported a six-year-old child was injured when debris from a downed UAV crashed through the roof of a residential building. The child and his mother were hospitalized in critical condition. An overpass in Novorossiysk collapsed as a result of the attack, forcing traffic suspension.
In Volna, a coastal village in Temryuksky District, a man was fatally wounded during the raid despite emergency medical assistance. Two people were hospitalized after drone debris struck a residential building in Anapa, and Gelendzhik reported three private homes damaged with two injuries.
The attacks follow recent intensification by Ukraine of long-range drone strikes on Russian civilian infrastructure. Earlier this month, a Ukrainian drone struck a beach in Arkhipo-Osipovka near Gelendzhik, killing eight people and injuring approximately 60 others. A previous strike on Nizhnekamsk in Russia’s Republic of Tatarstan killed 13 people.
Moscow has condemned Ukraine’s drone campaign as terrorism, accusing Kyiv of deliberately targeting civilians to offset battlefield setbacks. In response, Russian forces have escalated long-range missile and drone strikes against Ukrainian military-industrial facilities and logistics infrastructure, asserting they do not target civilians but only military assets.
