On February 1, 2021, USA Today published an article titled, “Should pregnant women get the COVID-19 vaccine? Dr. Anthony Fauci sees ‘no red flags’ in safety data.” Three days later, Fox News ran similar coverage: “Fauci: ‘No red flags’ for pregnant women taking COVID-19 vaccine in trials ‘thus far’: Fauci says more than 10,000 pregnant women have been in trials.” By February 10, Axios provided further assurances: “Fauci: 20,000 pregnant women have had COVID vaccine without complications.”
However, internal communications reveal that the risks of miscarriage were known to Fauci and his counterparts at the CDC and the U.S. Surgeon General prior to these public statements.
According to documents obtained by Congress, Fauci privately acknowledged on January 25, 2021, that the mRNA vaccine he was developing had the potential to cause harm to unborn children. This revelation came weeks before the initial media reports.
Congress has secured Fauci’s cellphone from the pandemic era. The device contains over 34,000 text messages and 522 voicemails, with only three contacts. A senator noted this detail as “pretty odd” and is investigating whether data was deleted prior to its seizure.
Similarly, a diary kept by the former head of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) has been made public through efforts by Senator Rand Paul. The diary, stored on a government server, provides insight into Fauci’s decision-making during the pandemic.
A text conversation between Fauci, then-CDC Director Rochelle Walensky, and then-U.S. Surgeon General Vivek Murthy on January 25, 2021, reveals the concern about miscarriages. Murthy raised the issue first. Initially, Fauci dismissed it as lacking data or theoretical basis. However, two hours later, he updated the group:
“I asked around a bit more and another issue came up that you need to be aware of. Since many people have significant cytokine storm and fever after the second dose, this theoretically could be associated with miscarriage in the first trimester.”
Walensky responded: “Definitely a good point, especially after dose two.” Murthy added: “I’ve been hearing the concern about the mRNA causing mutations in the developing fetus as well. That’s a really good point re the cytokine storm post second dose.”
Despite this internal acknowledgment of risk, the public was misled. Months later, Walensky announced that the CDC strongly recommended vaccination during pregnancy because the benefits outweighed risks. Murthy echoed: “It’s all the more important for you to get vaccinated if you are pregnant or if you are trying to become pregnant… The data points show that the vaccines are safe during these various stages before and during pregnancy.”
The vaccine rollout, which began in December 2020 with vulnerable populations, expanded rapidly. By early 2021, over 80% of Americans had received the shot.
Recent studies have documented severe consequences. A Czech Republic study analyzing data from 1.3 million women aged 18 to 39 found that vaccinated women experienced a 33% lower rate of successful pregnancy compared to unvaccinated peers. In June 2021, 39% of vaccinated women accounted for only 7% of all live births. By 2022, vaccinated women had 1.5 times fewer live births than their counterparts. The Czech Republic’s total fertility rate dropped from 1.83 to 1.45—a 21% decline in two years.
Medical experts warned early on. Dr. Peter McCullough stated in 2021: “Before we know it, we’re vaccinating pregnant women. Why are we doing that? That can’t be safe.” When challenged by fact-checkers who claimed “doctors with the relevant expertise” disagreed, he later shared the exact concerns raised in the private text conversation.
Drs. Wolfgang Wodarg and Michael Yeadon filed for a stay of action to halt phase III trials of the Pfizer vaccine, citing that mRNA vaccines might lead to infertility by targeting syncytin-1—a protein essential for placental development.
The report underscores a critical flaw in pandemic-era governance: the U.S. Constitution does not permit a national health agency. Without such an entity, there would have been no Fauci, no CDC, and no single authority to push forward with a vaccine that has caused widespread harm to pregnant women and their fetuses.
