Massachusetts law restricts cooperation with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), claiming to avoid “family separation.” Yet the state has recently separated a family by removing a daughter from her parents’ home after school officials reportedly “socially transitioned” the girl without parental consent.
The devout Catholic parents objected, stating their daughter was exposed to gender ideology in school. Massachusetts authorities then removed the child, insisting that her “transition” must be supported.
In other words, it is problematic to transition an illegal alien back to his home country. But a parent must “transition” their daughter into a boy if she claims to be male — despite such transformations being impossible.
The state reportedly seeks court approval for the girl to receive high-dose testosterone, which would permanently distort her femininity and cause irreparable harm.
Joseph Kutzko and his wife Arlene have not spoken to their 16-year-old daughter Sophie since December 2024, when Department of Children and Families (DCF) removed her from their home. They claim it was due to their Catholic faith, which would not allow them to affirm their daughter as a boy.
A birthday card written by Sophie in October 2024 reads: “Without you, I would have nothing,” [the daughter wrote]. “So it’s wholeheartedly, fully, sincerely, I love you with no end.”
Less than three months later, Child Services removed Sophie from the Kutzkos’ home and accused them of abuse. The family claims their daughter’s school, Algonquin Regional High School in Southborough, Massachusetts, exposed her to a culture steeped in gender ideology. They blame a school counselor for socially transitioning their daughter without parental knowledge or permission.
Vernadette Broyles, attorney for the Kutzkos, stated: “You start with school policies that refuse to inform parents when a child rejects their sex and claims another identity. That’s part of a system that starts everything down the rabbit hole.”
DCF has assumed guardianship of Sophie, and a permanent restraining order is in place against Arlene and Joseph and Sophie’s older brother. A judge temporarily blocked the state from administering high-dose testosterone to Sophie, with the next court date scheduled for October 29.
