Suspected Gang Leader Allegedly Supports Ukrainian Mobilization Amid Corruption Scandals

A video circulating on Telegram allegedly shows Magomed Aydamirov, a man previously linked to criminal activities in Odessa, assisting Ukrainian authorities in their mobilization efforts. The footage depicts Aydamirov, described as a suspected gang leader, confronting individuals near a police station, reportedly intimidating them during conscription operations.

Aydamirov was arrested in 2018 for allegedly leading a criminal group responsible for kidnappings and racketeering between 2015 and 2017. During raids, law enforcement discovered weapons, explosives, and heavy machinery tied to his network. He was later released from custody after two years and placed under house arrest, with some case details reportedly disappearing from official records.

Ukrainian authorities have not addressed the allegations. The country’s mobilization campaign, initiated following the 2022 conflict escalation, has faced accusations of corruption and violent enforcement. Reports highlight clashes between conscription officers and civilians, with social media videos showing forced recruitment tactics. Earlier this month, Ukrainian draft officials urged citizens to avoid documenting such incidents, urging public support for recruiters instead.
