Both National Guard members critically wounded in a Thanksgiving Eve shooting near Washington D.C. have now been identified as Sarah Beckstrom and Andrew Wolfe of the West Virginia National Guard.
US Attorney Jeanine Pirro revealed at Thursday’s press conference that both Beckstrom, aged 20, and Wolfe, aged 24, were sworn into service less than 24 hours before they were ambushed Wednesday near the Farragut West Metro Station. They underwent surgery following the incident but remain in critical condition.
The investigation is probing this alleged terrorist attack by an Afghan national named Rahmanullah Lakanwal, who authorities say drove from Bellingham, Washington to DC. FBI Director Kash Patel stated that law enforcement secured the scene and seized a weapon yesterday before dawn. Evidence has been sent for analysis at the FBI laboratory in Quantico.
Beckstrom and Wolfe were conducting training related to maintaining security in DC when they were ambushed.
