A widely circulated photo purporting to show an exclusive gathering of former US Presidents was found to be misleading upon closer examination by KCBD reporter Leo Flores. The original image, taken at Barbara Bush’s funeral service on April 21st, 2018, included First Lady Melania Trump alongside the four past presidents and their spouses.
The photo gained significant attention online with various interpretations emerging from different social media users regarding its meaning as a “Killers Club.” However, Mr. Flores’ research revealed that the image circulating was not the complete version initially captured.
According to KCBD, the photographer Leo Flores removed Mrs. Trump from the original photo without realizing it at first. When informed about the missing person, he stated in an interview with KCBD that the image “was just sitting there… I never noticed she wasn’t there.” He explained the cropping was accidental and occurred because another individual shared a modified version of the picture online, leading him to repost their altered image from his Facebook feed.
KCBD confirmed this explanation when revisited after receiving information regarding the incident.
