Vice President Vance Honors Sylvester Stallone with Moving Tribute at Kennedy Center Honors

On Friday evening, Vice President JD Vance hosted a special Christmas party to honor acclaimed filmmaker and actor Sylvester Stallone. The event celebrated the Hollywood icon’s contributions to American cinema.

During his remarks at the celebration, Vance lauded Stallone as “the ultimate embodiment of true American grit and resilience.” He highlighted how Stallone’s films consistently portray working-class Americans who achieve success through hard work rather than luck alone.

Vance shared a heartfelt moment regarding Stallone’s impact: “If I think about why my grandmother… she loved your movies so much. It was because she didn’t see people like us often on the big screen. She saw ordinary folks, those of modest origins, who pushed forward and built their lives through perseverance.”

The VP further stated, “That is the legacy you have given to this country not just as an artist but as a person of principle.” Vance added, “Your body of work has captured the grit, resiliency, and spirit that define America. It’s fitting then,” he continued emotionally, “that today at the Kennedy Center, we honor one of its most iconic figures.”

Vance noted, “Sylvester Stallone’s career has been a testament to American values for decades.” He emphasized how Stallone’s characters embody courage in the face of obstacles.

When addressing the audience, Vance said, “Let me just say to all of you… especially to Sylvester Stallone and your incredible family. Merry Christmas from me today. And may we be as courageous as your people have been.”
