The latest major food company to abandon synthetic dyes is Campbell’s, which has pledged to eliminate all FD&C colors from its products by the second half of fiscal 2026. The company, known for staples like soups, V8 beverages, and Goldfish crackers, will replace artificial dyes in items such as Lance crackers and V8 Splash with natural alternatives like annatto and purple carrot juice concentrate. Regional snack brands including Jay’s, O-Ke-Doke, and Tom’s, along with cookie lines like Archway and Stella D’oro, will also cease using synthetic colors.
CEO Mick Beekhuizen stated the shift aligns with consumer demand for simpler ingredients, emphasizing that the transition will be completed by 2026. Campbell’s highlighted its commitment to innovation and adapting to evolving preferences, noting that natural coloring has been used in most products for years. The company reiterated its focus on “great food” while phasing out synthetic dyes from remaining items.
