A Chinese AI startup claims its wearable pet translator device can achieve up to 95 percent accuracy in translating vocalizations and behavior into human language. The company states that its technology, which attaches to a pet’s collar and connects to a smartphone app, has been trained on over one million animal vocal samples and behavioral patterns across multiple breeds.
PettiChat, the startup behind the device, reports 94.6 percent real-time translation accuracy and claims it tested the product with more than one thousand pets during development. The company also states that the device weighs 27 grams and delivers translations within 1.2 seconds.
However, independent verification of these claims has not been conducted by external parties. Industry analysts note that while recognizing pet behavior patterns is scientifically plausible, translating specific phrases into human language remains an unproven capability. Critics point out that the current technology likely functions more as a novelty than a practical solution for real-world communication between pets and owners.
The product is currently available through Kickstarter with early backers able to secure discounts on the device. The startup has also secured $1 million in angel funding for production.
The claim went viral online, prompting widespread discussion about the potential and limitations of AI-driven animal translation technology.
