President Trump confirmed he referred to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as “crazy” during a recent phone call, stating that Israeli attacks in Lebanon must stop.
In the conversation, Trump reportedly told Netanyahu that troops would not be sent to Beirut and any forces en route had already been turned back. However, Netanyahu warned on social media that Israel would continue its operations against so-called terror targets in Lebanon.
Trump also indicated that a U.S. Navy blockade of the Strait of Hormuz could last through Labor Day, potentially driving up gasoline prices for American consumers throughout the summer. The president acknowledged having a “very good relationship” with Netanyahu but admitted his remarks were sharply worded during the call.
According to sources, Trump used strong language including telling Netanyahu: “You’re fking crazy. You’d be in prison if it weren’t for me.” He also stated he was “psed” and yelled at Netanyahu: “What the fk are you doing?”
Netanyahu claimed they share common ground on critical issues such as Iran’s nuclear program and its threats to Israel and the Middle East, stating disagreements are typically resolved quickly.
Trump defended his comments by noting he has helped keep Netanyahu out of jail due to his support during the prime minister’s corruption trial. He dismissed reports that Iran is holding him to account over oil prices, calling such claims “fake news” and asserting Iran’s economy is in crisis with high inflation and military weakness.
The national average price for a gallon of regular gasoline has risen from $2.98 to $4.26 since Trump ordered U.S. forces to attack Iran on Israel’s behalf two days prior.
