Deputy National Security Adviser Andy Baker, a close ally of Vice President JD Vance, has stepped down from the White House — becoming the second key aide to resign within a week.
This follows Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt’s resignation days earlier.
In a recent social media post, Mario Nawfal detailed that Baker is leaving the Trump administration to join the private sector and work with former Trump National Security Adviser Robert O’Brien.
Baker previously served as national security adviser to Vance and was instrumental in Iran negotiations. He has been part of the Trump administration for over 18 months and played a central role in shaping foreign policy decisions.
A source close to Baker stated he stayed beyond his planned departure date to ensure an orderly transition and wished to spend more time with his family.
Assistant Secretary of State for Global Public Affairs Dylan Johnson bid Baker farewell on social media.
