President Trump has sharply criticized a wave of vandalism targeting monuments in Washington, D.C., including the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool and the World War II Memorial.
In a recent social media post, the president condemned damage to the grass area connecting the two sites, stating it would be restored “again, and better than ever.” He also remarked that anyone who claims the Reflecting Pool was not vandalized should “go back to Law School.”
The comments followed U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro’s announcement of felony charges against Melissa L. Farris for allegedly writing graffiti with the phrase “Clean hands dirty $” on the World War II Memorial.
According to charging documents, the case does not reference the grass area Trump described as vandalized. Authorities noted that Farris had been previously arrested for camping on federal property near the memorial but not at the specific spot mentioned by the president.
