Air Force One Returns to Joint Base Andrews After Minor Electrical Issue During Trump’s Flight

Air Force One has returned to Joint Base Andrews following a minor electrical issue that occurred during President Trump’s flight to the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt described the decision to return to base as “out of an abundance of caution,” according to the Associated Press.

A reporter aboard the aircraft noted that lights in the press cabin went out momentarily after takeoff, though no explanation was provided for the incident.

President Trump is scheduled to board another aircraft upon his return and continue with his trip to Davos.

The two planes currently serving as Air Force One have been flying for nearly four decades. Boeing has faced multiple delays in developing replacements for the presidential fleet.

Last year, the ruling family of Qatar gifted Trump a luxury Boeing 747-8 jumbo jet to be added to the presidential fleet, a move that drew significant scrutiny. That aircraft is currently undergoing retrofitting to meet security requirements.

There are no reports of injuries or concerns for staff, crew members, or the president. The details of the electrical issue remain unknown at this time.
