Army Colonel Suspended for Celebrating Charlie Kirk’s Death on Social Media

The Department of War has suspended Army Colonel Scott Stephens after social media posts attributed to him reportedly celebrated the killing of Charlie Kirk.

Stephens’ comments, shared on Facebook, included statements such as: “We can take comfort in the face that Charlie was doing what he loved best – spreading messages of hate, racism, homophobia, misogyny, and transphobia on college campuses.” He further claimed, “I would offer empathy, but Charlie hated empathy,” and suggested Kirk “spent years inciting political violence to die the victim of it.”

The Army confirmed Stephens’ suspension and stated an investigation is ongoing into his conduct. A spokesperson emphasized that the death of Charlie Kirk in Utah was tragic but declined to comment further.

The Pentagon recently announced it is monitoring active-duty personnel who have publicly commented on Kirk’s killing. Secretary of War Pete Hegseth reiterated that military members who “cheer on horrific tragedies” will face consequences.
