Tyler Robinson, 22, allegedly confessed to killing Charlie Kirk and threatened to take his own life rather than face arrest after being confronted by his father, a veteran police officer.
Law enforcement sources revealed that Robinson’s father recognized his son from surveillance photos released by authorities and directly questioned him about the shooting. Robinson admitted to the crime but initially refused to turn himself in, according to federal officials.
Faced with his son’s defiance, the father contacted their family’s youth pastor, who also serves as a U.S. Marshals fugitive task force officer. The pastor helped persuade Robinson to surrender, leading to his arrest by federal agents.
Robinson was reportedly placed in a specialized “suicide gown” upon booking, indicating authorities took his threat seriously. The case remains under investigation.
