Brown University Shooter Footage Shows Critical Identification Challenges

Providence Police have released the clearest video footage yet of the Brown University mass shooting suspect, captured by surveillance cameras. However, inadequate camera coverage in the Barus and Holley engineering and physics building — where the attack occurred — has made it difficult to identify defining features of the suspect.

Authorities describe the suspect as having a stocky build. This latest recording shows him appearing notably heavyset, though earlier footage released on Monday suggested a different physique.

Police have stated that this is the most comprehensive available recording they have secured for the suspect. The FBI has offered a $50,000 reward for tips leading to the arrest of the suspect. Brown University has also requested students who were present at the attack site on Friday or Saturday to provide any information that could assist investigators, noting that “even an incidental detail may be helpful.”
