According to Fox News, Chicago police officers were instructed by their chief of patrol not to respond to Border Patrol agents who called for help during a ramming incident. Multiple law enforcement sources confirmed to Fox News that Chicago police officers were told by their chief of patrol not to assist agents surrounded by a large crowd of protesters following a Saturday morning incident involving an armed woman.
A computer-aided dispatch message sent to Chicago police officers by their chief of patrol stated: “PLEASE CHIEF OF PATROL NO UNITS WILL RESPOND TO THIS AS RELATED FROM 04-Oc5-2025/12:34:44…CALLER IS 1 OF APPROX 30 ARMED PATROL AGENTS (ICE) WHO ARE BEING SURROUNDED BY A LARGE CROWD OF PEOPLE REQUESTING CPD.” The message referenced a ramming incident outside the city where an armed woman was shot and agents were trapped by protesters.
Federal agents were reportedly rammed and surrounded by 10 vehicles in the suburb of Broadview, where anti-ICE crowds had gathered for days. Nearly a dozen people were arrested. One driver accused of ramming a law enforcement vehicle was armed with a semi-automatic weapon, according to DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin, who stated officers were forced to fire defensive shots at an armed U.S. citizen.
The woman involved, identified as Marimar Martinez, was named in a Customs and Border Protection intelligence bulletin. She allegedly doxxed agents and posted online: “Hey to all my gang let’s f— those mortherf—— up, don’t let them take anyone.” DHS confirmed no officers were seriously injured but noted Chicago Police Department’s refusal to assist in securing the scene.
Another individual, Anthony Ian Santos Ruiz, was reported as involved in the ramming and is in law enforcement custody. It remains unclear if Martinez or Ruiz have been charged or have legal representation. A spokesperson for Chicago’s Mount Sinai Hospital confirmed the woman treated and released following the incident.
Protesters were seen fleeing gas canisters deployed by law enforcement, with one woman stating, “This is Brighton Park, this is not a war zone.”
