The FBI has disclosed potential motives behind a shooting at an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facility in Dallas, Texas. During a press conference, FBI special agent John Rothrock revealed that bullets recovered from the scene bore “anti-ICE” inscriptions. Authorities confirmed four individuals were shot, with two fatalities, though no ICE agents were injured.
FBI Director Kash Patel shared images of the evidence, including unspent shell casings engraved with the phrase “ANTI ICE.” The attack occurred early Wednesday, with an individual opening fire at the facility before taking their own life. Federal agencies, including the Department of Homeland Security and ATF, are collaborating with local authorities on the investigation.
The FBI described the incident as ideologically motivated, citing the anti-ICE messaging as a key clue. Officials referenced a similar attack in Prairie Land, Texas, two months prior, where an ICE facility was targeted. “These despicable, politically motivated attacks against law enforcement must end,” the FBI stated.
Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson and Texas Senator Ted Cruz called for an end to political violence, with Johnson labeling the situation “a scary time” and Cruz urging leaders to avoid inflammatory rhetoric. Police emphasized that details about victims and the perpetrator remain under investigation, citing ongoing efforts to determine the full scope of the incident.
