FEDERAL INVESTIGATION LAUNCHED INTO PORTLAND ARREST OF CONSERVATIVE JOURNALIST NICK SORTOR

Conservative journalist Nick Sortor was arrested by Portland police following an incident where he claimed to be defending himself against Antifa activists while documenting protests near an Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility. According to reports, Sortor was charged with second-degree disorderly conduct after a confrontation that involved being surrounded by protesters, pushed into a flower bed, and reportedly struck by an individual before he disengaged and approached Portland police.

Sortor later claimed to have been unjustly arrested and stated that federal authorities are investigating the incident. Attorney General Pam Bondi announced a full probe into the arrest, assigning Assistant Attorney General Harmeet Dhillon to lead the inquiry. Sortor described receiving a personal call from Bondi, expressing relief over the federal response.

The Portland Police Bureau released Sortor after his arrest, which occurred amid chaotic protests near the ICE facility. He was detained alongside two Oregon residents and booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center on the same misdemeanor charge. Sortor criticized local authorities, asserting that the Trump administration would not tolerate what he described as Portland police aligning with Antifa tactics.

A separate statement from White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt reiterated the administration’s stance on the matter.
