Florida Deputy Doubles Down on Citation After Discovering Driver Had No Right Hand

A Palm Beach County sheriff’s deputy pulled over 36-year-old Kathleen Thomas in Lake Worth Beach, Florida, in February. The officer accused her of using a cellphone with her right hand.

During the stop, Thomas revealed she has no right arm and showed the deputy. Body camera footage released this week captured the exchange: the deputy initially insisted Thomas had a phone in her right hand but later admitted, “With the right hand, perhaps not.”

Thomas was issued a $116 citation for texting while driving, which was dismissed at the request of the deputy involved. The video gained millions of views across social media platforms.
