A major development has emerged as Hamas announced its agreement to release all Israeli hostages, including those who are dead or alive, in accordance with President Donald Trump’s proposed peace plan. The militant group stated it had conducted “extensive consultations” before accepting terms tied to Trump’s 20-point initiative for ending hostilities in Gaza.
Hamas signaled readiness to engage in negotiations through mediators to finalize the arrangement, following a deadline set by Trump for Hamas to accept his proposal by 6 p.m. ET on Sunday. The plan includes provisions for administrative control of Gaza to be transferred to an independent Palestinian body, contingent upon consensus among Palestinian factions and support from Arab and Islamic states.
The group emphasized that broader issues regarding Gaza’s governance and Palestinian rights would require resolution within a comprehensive national framework involving all relevant parties. According to reports, 48 hostages remain in Gaza, with 20 believed to be alive. Two American citizens, Itay Chen, 19, and Omer Neutra, 21, are among the dead.
Trump unveiled his ceasefire proposal alongside Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, framing it as a critical step toward ending the conflict. The announcement comes amid heightened tensions and urgent calls for a negotiated settlement.
