Rep. Haley Stevens (D-MI) announced she would introduce articles of impeachment against Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., accusing him of creating “health care chaos” through “reckless cuts” and rising costs. “Michiganders and families across the country are paying the price for RFK Jr.’s agenda,” Stevens stated, vowing to draft impeachment proceedings against the former presidential candidate.
Stevens, a persistent critic of Kennedy, has previously demanded his resignation, citing alleged cuts to medical research on pediatric cancer and vaccines. She criticized Kennedy’s policies in a September 15 statement, calling them “chaos” that endangers public health. “He’s making Michiganders unhealthy and unsafe,” she said, urging immediate action.
The impeachment push follows broader controversy over federal health policies, including recommendations to modify childhood vaccination schedules and President Trump’s advice to pregnant women against taking Tylenol. Stevens framed her efforts as a call for accountability, stating Kennedy has “violated his oath of office” and “proven himself unfit to serve.” She accused him of promoting “conspiracy theories” and undermining scientific progress.
Despite the political challenges, including Republican control of Congress, Stevens emphasized her commitment to pressuring Kennedy. The move comes as she campaigns for a U.S. Senate seat in Michigan.
