Israeli Lawmakers Expelled from Knesset During Trump’s Speech Over Palestine Recognition

Two Israeli lawmakers were ejected from the Knesset during President Donald Trump’s address after openly protesting his remarks. Israeli legislators Ayman Odeh and Ofer Cassif, both members of the left-leaning Hadash coalition, disrupted the speech by shouting slogans and holding signs demanding recognition of a Palestinian state. Odeh displayed a sign reading “Recognize Palestine” before being removed from the chamber. He later stated on social media that advocating for a Palestinian state is a universal demand, emphasizing the presence of two distinct peoples in the region. Cassif similarly criticized the Israeli government, accusing it of perpetuating occupation and apartheid against Palestinians. Despite their protest, Trump received widespread support from other Knesset members, with many applauding his speech on what he described as a historic shift in Middle East dynamics. The address coincided with the release of remaining hostages held by Hamas under a ceasefire agreement brokered by Trump.
