House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) recently criticized the White House during an appearance on “Good Day New York,” labeling the ongoing military engagement with Iran a “reckless war of choice” that has driven up gas prices and strained the cost of living for Americans.
Co-host Rosanna Scotto countered by pointing to high gas prices under both former Democratic presidents Barack Obama and Joe Biden, recalling specific examples such as gasoline exceeding $5 per gallon and eggs costing $12 a dozen.
Jeffries stated that ending the conflict would allow federal resources to be redirected toward addressing domestic challenges, including reducing the cost of living in New York City and nationwide. Scotto responded with a lighthearted reference to recent city unity efforts, suggesting potential positive outcomes from diplomatic negotiations involving Iran.
