Kamala Harris Signals Intent to Remain in Politics Despite 2024 Defeat

Kamala Harris has suggested her political career is far from over, despite losing the 2024 election by a significant margin. In a recent interview with CBS News’ partner, the BBC, the former vice president stated, “I am not done,” when asked about potential future presidential runs. The comments come as she promotes her new book, 107 Days, which details her experience as the Democratic nominee.

Harris addressed questions about how Joe Biden’s last-minute withdrawal from the race impacted her campaign, acknowledging the uncertainty of whether his decision affected her chances. She criticized former President Donald Trump, labeling him a “tyrant” and claiming his administration has fulfilled her predictions of an authoritarian government. Harris also condemned businesses and universities for yielding to Trump’s demands.

The White House responded to her remarks, stating through spokeswoman Abigail Jackson that Harris should have taken the 2024 election results as a clear rejection: “The American people don’t care about her absurd lies.” During the interview, Harris expressed hope that future generations would see a female president, asserting, “I have lived my entire career as a life of service and it’s in my bones.”

However, her recent book has sparked backlash within the Democratic Party. Critics argue that 107 Days has deepened divisions, with some claiming it undermines efforts to unify the party after its defeat. Harris faced scrutiny for her comments on potential running mates, including her decision not to endorse Pete Buttigieg due to perceived risks.

As Harris continues to navigate her post-election role, her political future remains uncertain, with many questioning whether she can regain support within her own party.
