This incident could have turned out more badly than it was.
A man in Michigan was arrested on Friday night after driving his car through a terminal at Detroit Metro Airport. Footage captured by witnesses shows the driver plowing into the McNamara Terminal around 7:30 p.m. EST., where Delta Airlines employees were working when the black sedan smashed through glass doors.
The driver exited the vehicle with hands raised and speaking incoherently as airport security and officials rushed to the scene. “The response was so quick — thank God with police and authorities,” said Ali Khalifa, a traveler who witnessed the incident. “That all happened in seconds.”
According to the Wayne County Airport Authority, the vehicle struck a ticket counter and became trapped inside the terminal when the driver was arrested. Six individuals were treated for injuries at the scene but none required hospitalization.
